Facial rejuvenation by fat transfer is a very old method. Degree of fatty tissue that resorbs is an disadvantage, and that’s why it has gained ups and downs in cosmetic surgery.
With new technique of microtransplantation, success rate of the surgery has risen up to 80%, and with some patients even 100%. Dr. Milan Jovanovic prefers this procedure and the reason is because effects are outstanding, and our own fatty tissue is being used. It means that the procedure for the patients is much cheaper than, for example, using the resorptive fillers.
CANDIDATES FOR FACIAL FAT GRAFTING
The best candidates for facial fat grafting include younger persons between the age 35 and 55 with visible dents, asymmetries, small and deep wrinkles around eyes, cheeks, forehead and nose.
PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION
Preoperative preparation for facial rejuvenation by fat transfer includes examination of visible signs of ageing or characteristic facial marks. They will be analyzed and precisely assessed. First examination will include discussion with Dr. Jovanovic about complete medical history, earlier surgeries, illnesses (if applicable), medicines you are currently taking and possible allergies. Based on medical examination and anamnestic data further indication is determined as to prevent complications. Before the surgery it is forbidden to use aspirin, vitamin E and estrogen hormones.
SURGICAL TECHNIQUE
The first step of procedure is aspiration by thin cannulas of a planned amount of fat cells using special technique. Next step is to prepare fat cells for liposculpture using special procedure. Finally, fat cells are injected using microcannulas, modeling the face according to earlier agreement with the patient. Recovery last a few hours.
COMPLICATIONS
Complications occur rarely. Most common complications are swellings with bruising which usually disappear within a few days. At a later point, fat tissue resorption can occur.
POSTOPERATIVE TREATMENT
No special treatment is needed and scars are invisible. Surgical incisions are smaller than 1 mm. If swelling appears apply cold compresses. Wash the face several times a day after one day.
